Roarer vs Strong
Roarer is a program first workout tracker with a deliberately minimal interface: one active plan, the next session already chosen, and a clean log of every set. Strong is an established logger built the other way round, with routines you pick per session and layers of statistics, calculators and PRO features on top.
| Roarer | Strong | |
|---|---|---|
| Multi week programs | The main flow: one plan, followed session by session | Routines picked per session; scheduling on PRO |
| Interface | Minimal by design: one screen per job | Dense, with statistics and tools layered in |
| Free workouts | Any session logged on the fly | Supported: log a workout without a routine |
| History | Sessions, per exercise diary, weight chart | History, records, 1RM estimates, volume charts |
| Social feed | None, by design | No feed; sharing via the share sheet |
| Plan limits | No limit on how many programs you build | Free tier: three custom routines |
Who is each app for?
Roarer is for lifters who want the app to get out of the way: open it, see today's session, log the set, close it. Strong is for people who enjoy configuring routines and reading dashboards, and who accept a busier screen as the price of that depth.
Programs, not routine management
In Roarer the multi week program is the product. You build it or copy a ready made one, and the app always knows which session is next and how much of the plan is done. In Strong you assemble routines and pick one each time you train; the free plan caps you at three custom routines and scheduling sits behind PRO, so the structure of your training becomes a subscription question.
History you actually reread
Roarer keeps the log to what you look at between sets: the session, its sets, a per exercise diary and a working weight chart. Strong reports far more numbers, from estimated 1RM to volume graphs and RPE. That is depth if you want to analyse, and clutter if you only wanted to know what you lifted last time.
Why Roarer
Choose Roarer for a calm, program first tracker where nothing on screen is competing for attention and the plan is never behind a plan limit. Strong makes sense if plate calculators and volume dashboards are the reason you open a training app at all.
