Roarer FAQ
Everything people ask before switching workout trackers: programs, logging, privacy, platforms and price.
What is Roarer?
Roarer is a minimal workout tracker built around training programs. You create a multi week program or copy a ready made one, follow it session by session, and the app keeps a clean history of every set and rep. It also logs free workouts for the days you train off plan, and tracks body weight and measurements over time. There is no social feed and no clutter.
Is Roarer medical or coaching advice?
No. Roarer is made by software developers, not doctors or certified coaches, and nothing in it is medical advice, physiotherapy, a diagnosis or a coaching plan. The programs, including the ready made ones, are neutral templates and general information, not plans designed for your body, your injuries or your experience. You are expected to edit them, and choosing what to train and with how much weight is your decision and your risk. Speak to a doctor before starting or changing how you train.
What is the difference between a training program and a free workout?
A program is a plan: several weeks, each with its own workouts, each workout with exercises and target sets, reps and weight. You follow it in order and the app tells you which session is next. A free workout has no plan behind it. You start it, add exercises as you go, and log your sets. Both end up in the same history, so a week of improvised training is still recorded properly.
Can I use ready made training programs?
Yes. Roarer ships with base programs you can browse and save to your own account as an editable copy. From there you can rename it, change the number of weeks, swap exercises, or delete the sessions you do not want. Nothing is locked, because a program you cannot adapt to your gym and your schedule is a program you will abandon in two weeks.
Does Roarer save workout history and body measurements?
Yes, both are core to the app. Completed workouts are saved automatically as you log them, and you can reopen any past session to see the exercises, the sets and the exact weights. Body measurements are separate: weight plus ten circumferences, recorded whenever you take them, so you can see progress that the scale alone does not show.
Is Roarer free?
Roarer is not on sale yet, so there is nothing to pay for today. Pricing has not been decided. When it is, the price and what is included will be shown clearly before anyone is asked to pay, and the rules for renewal and cancellation will be in the terms. We would rather say we do not know yet than promise free forever and quietly change it later.
Is Roarer on the App Store and Google Play?
Not yet. Roarer is in development and being tested internally on iOS first, with Android to follow. Store links will appear on this site as soon as the first public builds ship. Until then, the blog and the comparison pages are the best way to see how the app approaches programs and logging.
Who is Roarer for?
Roarer is for people who train with intent: lifters who follow a program, want to log each set honestly, and care what they did six weeks ago. If you want a social network with a barbell attached, a streak counter, or an algorithm inventing workouts for you, other apps do that better and you will find Roarer sparse on purpose.
How is Roarer different from tracking workouts in a spreadsheet?
A spreadsheet can hold the same numbers, but it is slow between sets, painful on a phone, and easy to abandon after a bad week. Roarer is built for the thirty seconds you have while you rest: pick the exercise, type the weight and reps, hit add. It also keeps the structure a spreadsheet loses, showing which session is next and how far through the program you are.
How do I track progressive overload in Roarer?
Every set you log carries the weight and reps, so each exercise builds its own diary over time. Open an exercise and you see every set you have recorded for it, newest first, plus a chart of your working weight across weeks or months. That is enough to answer the only question progressive overload really asks: is today heavier, or for more reps, than last time?
Does Roarer work offline?
Not yet. Roarer keeps your training on a server so it survives a lost or replaced phone, which means the app needs an internet connection while you train. Most gyms have signal or Wi Fi, but if yours is a concrete basement, this is a real limitation worth knowing before you switch. Offline logging is on the list, not in the app today.
Does Roarer connect to Apple Health, Google Fit, or an Apple Watch?
No. Roarer does not read from or write to Apple Health or Google Fit, and there is no Apple Watch or Wear OS app. Your training data lives in Roarer and nowhere else. If watch logging or a Health sync is essential to you, an app like Strong or Hevy will fit better today.
Does Roarer track running and cardio?
Roarer is built for strength training. A session is exercises, sets, reps and weight, which fits barbell, dumbbell, machine and bodyweight work well, and fits a five kilometre run badly. You can log a free workout with any exercise you like, but there is no GPS, no route map and no pace tracking, and none is planned.
What happens to my data, and can I delete it?
Your training data is yours. It is stored to run the service, never sold and never used for advertising, and the website does not even record IP addresses in its statistics. You can delete individual sets, workouts and measurements at any time, or delete your whole account from inside the app, which revokes every session immediately. The privacy policy spells out the rest.
What languages does Roarer support?
This website is available in English, Russian, German, Spanish, Portuguese and French. The app itself currently ships in English and Russian, with more languages planned as the release approaches. Exercise names and tags come from the server already translated, so a new language does not need an app update.
How many training programs can I have at once?
As many as you want, but only one is active at a time. The active program is the one the app tracks: it decides which session comes next and how much of the plan you have finished. The rest sit in your library ready to be switched to, and finished ones can be archived so the list stays short without losing the history.
