Train with Claude using your real workout data

Roarer has a read-only connector for Claude. Once connected, Claude can read the workouts, programs and body measurements you log in Roarer and answer from your real numbers instead of guessing. You choose what it can read and can disconnect at any time.

What is the Roarer connector for Claude?

The connector links your Roarer account to Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant. It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets an AI assistant read data from an app with your permission. In practice you add one address in Claude, sign in to Roarer, and then ask questions about your training in plain language.

Roarer is a free workout tracker for strength training: programs, sets, reps and weight, exercise history and body measurements. The connector only reads. Claude cannot add, change or delete anything in your account.

Why a plain AI chat cannot coach you from memory

A general AI chat knows only what you type into it. It does not have your workout history, so it cannot tell whether your bench press is going up, which lifts have stalled or what you lifted last Tuesday. Without that, advice stays generic and numbers can be made up.

With the connector, Claude reads your logged sets, repetitions, weights, programs and measurements from Roarer. Figures such as volume and estimated one-rep max (Epley formula) are calculated by Roarer from your sets, so Claude explains your real data instead of guessing.

How to connect Roarer to Claude

Setup takes a few minutes and is done once.

  1. Log your training in Roarer

Track workouts in the Roarer app or import a Hevy CSV export. A few weeks of history gives Claude something to analyze.

  2. Add the connector in Claude

In Claude open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and enter this address:
https://mcp.roarer.app/mcp

  3. Sign in and choose what to share

Sign in to Roarer on the page that opens, then choose the categories Claude may read: workouts, programs, measurements, statistics and your first name. Body measurements are off by default, so tick them if you want them included.

  4. Ask about your training

Start a chat and ask, for example: How has my bench press progressed over the last 12 weeks?

According to Anthropic's help center, custom connectors are available on the Free (limited to one connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. On Team and Enterprise an organisation owner adds them.

What you can ask Claude

Progress

  • How has my bench press progressed over the last 12 weeks?
  • Which of my lifts have stalled recently?
  • What are my personal records?

Weekly review

  • Summarise my training week and compare it with the previous one.
  • Did my training volume go up or down this month?

Planning

  • What is my next workout, and what did I lift last time?
  • Plan my next week from my program and recent sessions.

Body measurements

  • How is my body weight trending over the last three months?
  • How have my waist and arm measurements changed?

Programs and exercises (works without signing in)

  • Which ready-made program fits three training days a week?
  • Find an exercise for the lower back.

Example: bench press progress

In a demo account with 15 weeks of push, pull and legs training, the bench press question returns 12 sessions, a top weight that rises from 70 to 97.5 kg and an estimated one-rep max that rises from 88.7 to 123.5 kg (+39%). Claude then describes the trend in its own words. These are demo data, not a real athlete.

Body measurements Weight, circumferences and your own metrics, plus trends over time
Statistics Weekly summary: workouts, sets, volume and weekly streak
Profile Your first name (optional), plus units, language and time zone so that numbers read correctly
Exercise and program catalog Roarer's public exercises and ready-made programs, no sign-in needed
Never shared Email address, phone number, surname, photos, avatar, support messages and notification settings

Is it private, and who controls it?

You do. Access is read-only, you choose the categories on the consent step, and you can remove Roarer in Claude's connector settings at any time or ask us at support@roarer.app to revoke the connection. Access tokens last one hour and refresh tokens up to 90 days.

When you ask a question, the data Claude needs is sent to Claude and processed by Anthropic under its own terms and privacy policy. Roarer's servers are in the EU, the app has no ads and no tracking, and the privacy policy has a section on AI assistant connectors.

Who it is for

Who it is not for

Claude can make mistakes. Treat its suggestions as input, check them against how you feel, and talk to a qualified professional about injuries or health conditions. Roarer does not give medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Claude as a personal trainer?

Claude can review your logged training, spot trends and suggest what to try next, but it is not a coach who watches your form or knows your injuries. With the Roarer connector it works from your real numbers, which makes its analysis far more useful than a generic chat. Treat suggestions as input and use your own judgment.

How does Claude see my workouts?

You add the Roarer connector in Claude and sign in to Roarer. When you ask a question, Claude calls read-only tools that fetch the data it needs, such as your recent sessions or the history of one exercise. It only sees the categories you allowed.

Is the Roarer connector free?

Roarer is free, with no subscription and no ads, and the connector costs nothing extra. You need a Claude account: Anthropic lists custom connectors on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with one connector on Free.

Can Claude change or delete my workouts?

No. The connector is read-only. Claude cannot add, edit or delete workouts, programs or measurements. All changes are made in the Roarer app.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Not at the moment. The connector is built for Claude. If that changes, this page will say so.

What data does Claude receive?

Only the categories you allow: workouts, programs, measurements, statistics and your first name. Your email address, phone number, surname, photos, avatar and support messages are never shared. Claude receives the data it needs to answer a question, not a full dump.

Can I import my history from another app?

Yes. The Roarer app imports a Hevy CSV export, including workouts and body measurements. Once imported, that history is available to Claude through the connector.

Do I need the Roarer app?

You log your training in the Roarer app, so yes: that is where the data comes from. You can create the account on the connector's sign-in page, but without logged workouts Claude has little to analyze.

Where do I get Roarer?

Roarer is in development and tested on iOS first. It is not in the App Store yet. Store links appear on this site at release.

Is this medical advice?

No. Roarer and Claude do not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. For pain, injuries or health conditions, talk to a qualified professional.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to apps and read data with your permission. The Roarer connector is a remote MCP server, which is why Claude can use it after you add its address and sign in.

How is this different from asking Claude about a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet has to be exported and pasted or uploaded every time, and you must keep it up to date. The connector reads live data from Roarer, so every chat starts from your latest logged sets. Roarer also calculates volume and estimated one-rep max for you.

Try it with your own training
